9月18日，澳大利亚宣布2035年减排目标，提出到2035年温室气体排放量在2005年水平上减少62%~70%，实现70%的减排目标意味着澳大利亚需要减少约33 MtCO₂e（100万吨二氧化碳当量）的排放，几乎是目前减排速度的2倍。同日发布《净零排放计划》（Net Zero Plan）以及6个经济部门的行动计划，促进上述减排目标的实现。
