英文摘要
14-04-2020 | Rapport

This report on decarbonisation options for the Dutch biofuels industry is part of the MIDDEN project (Manufacturing Industry Decarbonisation Data Exchange Network) initiated by PBL and TNO. ECN part of TNO is renamed to TNO Energy Transition Studies. The project aims to support industry, policymakers, analysts and the energy sector in their common efforts to achieve deep decarbonisation.

The biofuels industry in the Netherlands

In 2017, The Netherlands was the third largest producer of biofuels in Europe after Germany and France. This report discusses the production of liquid biofuels derived from biomass, which are used as an alternative to fossil fuels such as gasoline, diesel and aviation fuels.

Decarbonisation options include electrification, substitution of natural gas and CCUS

The main opportunities for decarbonising the biofuel industries’ heat supply include electrification (heat pumps, electric boilers) and substitution of natural gas with hydrogen or biogas. CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage), mainly for concentrated biogenic CO2 is another important option.
