The Department of the Environment and Energy has launched a new online acquittal portal for Wildlife Trade permit holders.

A permit acquittal

  • Tells the Department whether a wildlife trade permit has or has not been used, and what specimens were shipped or received under the permit.
  • Allows for quicker assessment of your future permit applications, and
  • Helps the Department ensure that wildlife trade is legal, sustainable and reportable, which allows us to better protect wildlife.

What does this mean for you?

The current way in which you acquit your Wildlife Trade Permits (with hard copy pink slips) is now an online process. The online acquittal process is now completed through your existing Online Services account.

Why a new portal?

The new online acquittal portal is part of a broader Departmental system upgrade that will provide you with greater visibility of, and access to, your acquittals and acquittal compliance. This is expected to help us assess your future permit applications more efficiently.

What do you need to do?

An acquittals user guide has been published on our Wildlife Trade Resources page. We will be available to support your transition to the new online acquittal system – just call us on 6274 1900 or email wildlifetrade@environment.gov.au
