正文(英文)	Great news for the Amazon of Europe! At the end of September 2018, Austria applied the Mura River in Styria for the status of UNESCO biosphere reserve. It is a result of strong efforts by the Styrian local government and public institutions. With existing biosphere reserves Bačko Podunavlje in Serbia and Mura River in Slovenia, and the Transboundary Biosphere Reserve Mura-Drava-Danube in Croatia and Hungary, this nomination is the last piece of the puzzle for the establishment of the Mura, Drava and Danube in these five countries as the first 5-country transboundary biosphere reserve in the world. Furthermore, the decision of the Slovenian Government to stop building hydropower plants on the Mura River proves that September was indeed a fruitful month for the Amazon of Europe. This decision is a great contribution to the sustainability of the Mura River Biosphere Reserve and the future development of eco-tourism and local community through nature protection.
