英文摘要

Some 123 WMO Member Profiles are now publicly available on the WMO Community Platform thanks to a six-month campaign that ended in early 2022. The Member Profiles include a summary on each National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) with more complete information on their 1) mandate, strategic plan, staff and budget, 2) infrastructure, 3) services, and more specifically on 4) early warning services, and on 5) research and innovation activities.

The Community Platform, launched in 2019, offers various tools for collaboration and information sharing to the expert community worldwide as well as means for obtaining a more integrated view of activities at the local, regional or international levels. In the long term, the Community Platform aimed to collect and digitize information provided by Members on their NMHSs, which would permit users to analyse and produce Member Profiles and other added value outputs.

Member Profile information on the most prevalent hydrometeorological hazards, current technical and physical capacities and gaps that may require priority attention, intervention or further investment can be used by other WMO Members and external partners to assess how they may assist NMHSs. Member Profiles can also be compared to identify new areas for service provision. The Member Profiles are available to the public so that they can learn about their NMHSs and the services available to them at home and abroad.

As the Community Platform continues its collection and centralization of data on Members, the Member Profiles will evolve to integrate additional information. In the last months, Global and Regional Analyses have been made available on the Community Platform using data from Members on their mandates and strategic plans, infrastructure and services.

The information gathered during the data collection campaign will also be used to monitor implementation of the WMO Strategic Plan; develop a Performance Assessment Report for 2020-2021; conduct diagnostics of Members’ capacity; and to support the Policy Advisory Committee in its deliberations on the Strategic Plan 2024-2027.

Several updates Community Platform updates are in the pipeline, including the integration of WMO project information and the annexing of Country Assessments by WMO partners.

The Secretariat urges Members who have not yet provided data to log into the Community Platform to complete the information on their NMHSs. Members may update their Profiles themselves whenever necessary, and users will be able to see when the latest updates were made.
