We currently have two journal vacancies for an Editor in Chief for Climate Resilience and Sustainability and an Editor in Chief for WIREs Climate Change.

These opportunities are ideal for anyone looking to enthuse a large readership in a variety of climate content, supported by the Society, Publisher and Editorial Board.

We are looking for inspirational leaders to lead the Editorial Board, develop and implement the journals' strategy and oversee the operation of the journals (manuscript submission, reviewing and publication).

We value diversity, equity and inclusion and welcome all applicants regardless of nationality, gender, ethnicity, cultural background, etc.

Editor in Chief: Climate Resilience and Sustainability

Climate Resilience and Sustainability (CRS) is an interdisciplinary open-access journal studying the broad subject of understanding the implications of climate change for a sustainable environment and society.

The journal acts as a forum for researchers and practitioners who are using the best weather and climate information available to propose policies and actions that are climate resilient and deliver sustainable outcomes. More about the journal here: Climate Resilience and Sustainability - Wiley Online Library

Responsibilities will be shared with another co-Editor in Chief. As the journal launched in 2020, a key focus for the Editor in Chief will be on strategies to grow submissions and raise the journal profile within their networks. As the figurehead of the journal, you will be responsible for raising the journal's profile within the science community and ensuring the published content meets the journal's editorial standards.

The successful candidate will ideally have extensive knowledge in the field, be active and well-connected internationally in the subject community and have some previous experience publishing in academic journals.

Please visit our jobs board for further information and share it with anyone who may be interested. The closing date for applications is 1 August 2022.

Editor in Chief:  Climate Resilience and Sustainability

Editor in Chief: WIREs Climate Change

Professor Mike Hulme, Founding Editor in Chief for WIREs Climate Change, has announced his decision to step down from this role at the end of this year.

Mike has done a remarkable job as Editor in Chief, leading the journal from its foundation to one of the foremost outlets for climate change research – publishing more than 800 reviews, articles and commentaries that are highly cited and well-read. He has been supported by outstanding Domain Editors and an International Advisory Board.

WIREs Climate Change offers a unique platform for exploring current and emerging knowledge from the many disciplines that contribute to our understanding of climate change – environmental history, the humanities, physical and life sciences, social sciences, engineering and economics. As part of the WIREs portfolio, the journal serves as a forum for review articles intended to survey and summarise the current state of knowledge on climate change. More about the journal here: WIREs Climate Change - Wiley Online Library.

WIREs Climate Change is a Wiley-owned journal published in partnership with the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) and Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) (RGS-IBG). Wiley will appoint the new Editor. They are expected to start in September 2022 to allow some overlap with Professor Hulme.

The RMetS and RGS-IBG are keen to encourage expressions of interest from across the breadth of the climate change research community. We are looking for a relatively senior candidate with a well-established international network and a broad scope of knowledge that transects both the natural and the social sciences.

Please visit our jobs board for further information and share it with anyone who may be interested. The closing date for applications is 22 July 2022.
