正文(英文) | Imperial is launching a science scholarship for Turkish Masters students. The TEV UK-Eczacibasi-Imperial scholarship, which has been set up with Imperial alumnus, Bülent Eczacibasi, Chairperson of Eczacibasi Holding and the Turkish Education Foundation, TEV UK, will support students to undertake Masters courses offered by the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the College. "Turkey has incredibly talented and resourceful student scientists and engineers." Alice P. Gast President of Imperial College London The scholarship will fund academic fees and support monthly living costs for two students starting in September and is aimed at those that need funding support. Imperial’s President Alice Gast said: “Turkey has incredibly talented and resourceful student scientists and engineers. "We want to attract the very best applicants from all backgrounds and this scholarship will support students who might not have the financial resources to otherwise access an Imperial education.” Bülent Eczacibasi (BSc Chemistry 1972) said: “We're delighted to make it possible for two Turkish students to join the inspiring journey of Imperial College London to solve the biggest challenges in science, engineering and business for the benefit of society.” Sule Arinc, Founding Trustee & Head of Development Committee Tev UK, said: “We are thrilled about our partnership with Imperial College London as it will provide hardworking and deserving young Turkish students with the opportunity to access the unmatched resources and education at Imperial, thereby enriching their lives and optimising their future opportunities.” Last year Imperial hosted a special event with Mr Eczacibasi to discuss the future of Turkish innovation and entrepreneurship at a special virtual event. Mr Eczacibasi spoke about his time at Imperial and gave his thoughts on how Turkey can harness innovation more effectively. Mr Eczacibasi said: “I believe the future of any nation depends on their skills and the resources they have to innovate." Speaking at the event, President Gast said: “We have strong connections with Turkey, including important research collaborations, growing numbers of Turkish staff and students, and we have a very large and very talented alumni base around the world.” FIND OUT MORE AND APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIPImperial and TurkeyImperial has more than 80 Turkish students, a number which is growing, and 20 research staff. Imperial collaborates with many partners in Turkey and in the last five years Imperial academics have published more than 450 publications with Turkish collaborators. Scholarships ChallengeIn June 2021, the College launched a Scholarships Campaign that seeks to enable underrepresented groups or those facing financial barriers to study at the College. Specifically, the College has invested £5 million for international scholarships, and seeks to at least double that investment with support from our community. This new scholarship with funding from alumnus Bülent Eczacibasi, demonstrates the incredible impact our alumni can have for the next generation of talented scholars.
