E3G welcomes Ed Brophy as a Senior Associate working closely with the Macroeconomics team.

Ed is the founder and principal of the advisory firm Tyrconnell Strategy where he advises clients on external policy and political, regulatory and reputational risk. He worked for a decade at the most senior level in government in Ireland. He was most recently chief adviser to the Minister for Finance and President of the Eurogroup, Paschal Donohoe, and before that as chief of staff to the Deputy Prime Minister.

Prior to entering government, Ed worked as a lawyer, economist and public policy advisor in the technology, telecoms and energy industries. As part of the continuation of our work on Finance Ministers, Ed will work with E3G on bringing climate change to the heart of macro-economic and fiscal policy, both within the EU and internationally.

I am confident that there is growing political energy within the EU to debate the changes to economic governance we need to make to ensure that fiscal and monetary policy is assessed on the basis of its impact on emissions as well as on growth, debt and inflation.
