正文(英文) | Investing in Climate Adaptation for the Most Vulnerable: New Support for the Least Developed Countries Fund Tuesday November 9, 2021 13:15 to 14:30 Meeting room 14, Zone F Media Contact: GEF Head of Communications Robert Bisset, rbisset@thegef.org At a ministerial-level event moderated by Bezos Earth Fund President and CEO Andrew Steer, 11 governments are expected to make new pledges to the Least Developed Countries Fund, the only dedicated source of climate resilience financing for the world’s most vulnerable countries. The LDCF, managed by the Global Environment Facility, has over the past two decades provided more than $1.7 billion in grants for projects tailored to Least Developed Countries’ climate adaptation needs and priorities. These initiatives have reduced the climate vulnerability of more than 50 million people and strengthened the climate-resilient management of 6 million hectares of land to date. Speakers at the ministerial dialogue and pledging session will include ministers and senior officials from Belgium, Bhutan, Cambodia, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Senegal, Switzerland, Timor Leste, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as the CEO and Chairperson of the Global Environment Facility. |
