The German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR), the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) intend to cooperate closely on strategic issues in human resources management. At the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Dubai, they confirmed their intention to share expertise and experience in this field. Anke Kaysser-Pyzalla, Chair of the DLR Executive Board, JAXA President Hiroshi Yamakawa and CSA President Lisa Campbell signed a Letter of Intent to this effect.

"We have a long-standing and successful cooperation with CSA and JAXA in research. Even more reason for us to look forward to this new area of cooperation in strategic human resources management," says Klaus Hamacher, Deputy Chairman of the DLR Executive Board and responsible, among other things, for Human Resources (HR) at DLR.

The INFOHRM (International Forum for Space Organisations Human Resources Management) initiative provides the framework for discussions between the participants. The aim is to build a global network for the overarching HR issues of space agencies. Challenges such as HR management during a pandemic or future scenarios for digital HR processes will be addressed.

JAXA, CSA and DLR have already been cooperating in research for years – the trusting partnership is now being extended to an area where comparable international cooperation has not existed before. An exchange of staff via the network is not planned. In the future, further international space agencies are to be included in INFOHRM.
