Sage joins the World Business Council for Sustainable Development in drive to help SMBs unlock sustainability

Geneva, 19 October 2021 – Sage, the market leader in cloud business management solutions, today announced it joins nearly 200 forward-thinking companies as the newest member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). 

As part of this membership, Sage will work hand-in-hand with other purpose-led CEOs, contributing to key projects across climate, social inequality, reporting and the future of work. 

Steve Hare, Sage’s Chief Executive Officer, joins  WBCSD as a Council Member. He will provide leadership and collaborate with other leaders on WBCSD’s work program to help sustainable businesses be more successful. In addition, Steve takes up the role of a Commissioner for the Business Commission to Tackle Inequality (BCTI) to mobilize the business community at large and drive tangible progress in support of prosperity for all.  

WBCSD is a global, CEO-led organization of over 200 leading businesses working together to accelerate the transition to a sustainable world. WBCSD engages with members on being more sustainable by focusing on the maximum positive impact for shareholders, the environment and societies. As a leading voice of business for sustainability, its vision is a world where more than nine billion people are all living well, within planetary boundaries, by 2050.

Sage has already committed to playing its part in tackling the climate crisis, pledging to be Net Zero by 2040 across its operations and supply chain, with an interim step to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. Sage has also committed to the SBTi (Science based Target Initiative), the UN climate change Race to Zero and the UN Global Compact Business Ambition for 1.5°C Pathway.

WBCSD’s member companies come from all business sectors and all major economies, representing a combined revenue of more than USD $8.5 trillion and 19 million employees. The Business Commission to Tackle Inequality includes Co-Chairs and Commissioners from organizations such as Unilever, World Food Programme, Inter IKEA Group, International Chamber of Commerce and many others.
