英文摘要 | The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is a federal agency tasked with regulating interstate transmission of electricity, natural gas, and oil. In the electricity sector, FERC regulates interstate wholesale electricity transactions, sets reliability standards for the bulk power system, and licenses hydroelectric projects. Decisions at FERC affect the markets that determine wholesale electricity prices and in turn which power plants are built, which has numerous implications for the environment. This explainer provides background on FERC and its role as a regulator of wholesale electricity markets. Many concepts in this explainer rely on those covered in past explainers, including “Electricity 101” and “US Electricity Markets 101.” Therefore, these explainers would be useful to read prior to this one. |
