Two non-executive board members of the Sea Fish Industry Authority (Seafish), Nathan de Rozarieux and Michael Mitchell have been reappointed for a second term following their initial appointment in 2018.

Seafish is a non-departmental public body which carries out a wide range of activities to support a thriving seafood industry, working with the fishing industry and processors through to importers, retailers and food service providers.

Nathan de Rozarieux brings over 25 years’ experience in fisheries and seafood supply chain to Seafish. He is a specialist in the development of sustainability projects and will continue to work closely with the small-scale fishing sector to access new opportunities.

Building on over 30 years’ experience in the industry, Michael Mitchell will continue to represent the processing sector in his role at Seafish, supporting the seafood industry from capture to consumption.

These are ministerial appointments agreed by the four fisheries administrations, who jointly sponsor Seafish. The re-appointments were carried out in accordance with the Ministerial Code of Governance for Public Appointments, there is a requirement for the political activities of appointees to be made public. Mike Mitchell and Nathan de Rozarieux have not declared any significant political activity.

Nathan de Rozarieux

Nathan de Rozarieux will represent the small-scale fishing sector and will contribute the knowledge he has gained as both a practitioner and consultant. Nathan is currently Managing Director of Tegen Mor Fisheries Consultants Ltd a firm offering a range of industry services. He is the owner-skipper of an inshore vessel operating in Cornwall, a position he has frequently returned to alongside roles at Seafish and WWF-UK. In April 2020 Nathan became a Trustee of the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen. Nathan formerly worked as a director of the Duchy Fish Quota Company, a not-for-profit seeking to support the Cornwall inshore fishing industry and is a former committee member of the Cornwall Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority.

Michael Mitchell

Michael Mitchell will represent the processing sector and brings with him extensive experience of the seafood sector following 30 years in the industry. Michael is currently Managing Director of Fair Seas Limited, a consultancy firm supporting the seafood industry with clients including major value-added processors, academic clients, national and international retailers, food service providers, sustainability standards owners and certification assessment bodies. Previous to this, he spent more than 30 years working in the seafood processing industry, progressing his way from the factory floor to Technical & CSR Director at Young’s Seafood Ltd.
