Let’s get together for Critical Zone Science in New Orleans at #AGU21!
Hi all,
After a long year of COVID-19, we finally will be able to get together again: with our session, we want to look to the future of Critical Zone science and hope you will join us by submitting an abstract to “EP032: Responding to the present and preparing for the future: transformative approaches in Critical Zone science”.
Why submit to our session?
Critical Zone science has fundamentally changed how we think of the Earth’s living skin, how we share data and collaborate, and how we train the next generation of scientists and inform policymakers across the globe. However, Critical Zone science also faces challenges, with many open questions that we need to discuss and address. For example,
i) is Critical Zone science responding flexibly and quickly enough to rapid environmental change, human activities, and to social justice issues?
ii) What novel tools, approaches, data, and collaborations need to be developed or strengthened?
iii) How can Critical Zone science become accessible and relevant to all identities and how do we move towards just, equitable, and diverse communities of researchers, teachers and learners?
Join us, in person or online, and bring in your unique perspective, approaches, and/or learned lessons towards transformative approaches for the future of Critical Zone science.
Abstract submission deadline is Wednesday, 4 August 2021 at 23:59 EDT.
Please distribute widely and see you in New Orleans!
Cheers,
Julia Perdrial, Lixin Jin, Bhavna Arora, and Jerad Bales
