Geneva, 7 May 2021: The Reporting Exchange, theglobal resource for corporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting, will be transferred from May 2021 to Arabesque, a leading provider of technology solutions for sustainable finance and a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), to leverage the newest technological and data intelligence advances.

Since WBCSD launched the Reporting Exchange with our partners CDSB and Ecodesk in 2017, ESG reporting has continued to surge and new requirements and guidelines are defining company reporting across the globe. This focus has been strengthened in the last year to support economic recovery as a result of the global pandemic - such as Canada tying COVID-19 business support to climate reporting requirements.

With this backdrop, companies, capital markets and stakeholders continue to need reliable, comparable and decision-useful information on companies´ material ESG issues affecting their risks and opportunities.

Andrew Beanland, Director in Redefining Value, WBCSD comments: “The Reporting Exchange is a vital piece of the puzzle for both companies, investors and policy makers in understanding and navigating the complexity of the ESG reporting landscape. We’re delighted to be collaborating with Arabesque to secure the future of the platform for the foreseeable future, and ensure that all parties have an up to date, reliable picture of key developments.”

Dr. Daniel Klier, incoming CEO of Arabesque S-Ray, said: “The rapid increase in ESG regulation on a global scale has highlighted the need for technology-based, scalable and quantitative data solutions for corporates and investors. We are delighted to be partnering with WBCSD and taking over The Reporting Exchange and look forward to enhancing the platform’s capabilities as a leading ESG data resource for all market stakeholders.”

The Reporting Exchange has been possible thanks to the network of moderators, global network and research partners helping to contribute and ensure that the data is up-to-date and reliable. The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)´s 2018 award on progressing sustainability reporting was an important acknowledgment of the hard work of collaborating individuals and organizations and the generous funding from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.

The Reporting Exchange will continue to provide a free user-friendly database to search and understand ESG reporting requirements and indicators - get started here.
