The paper explores the opportunities for the circular economy to reduce the EU’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with three of its most carbon-intensive sectors: the built environment, mobility, and food.
With the Commission’s new Industrial Strategy proposal scheduled to come out later this month, some of the key decisions that will shape the future of the bloc’s industry will be made in the coming months. It is of essence that those decisions look holistically at the entire gamut of greenhouse gas emissions generated by the EU’s industrial activities, the authors of the paper argue, including the significant percentage of emissions associated with the production and consumption of products and food.
During the breakfast briefing, the authors will share the key findings and recommendations for policies within the 2030 time horizon and beyond, followed by remarks from high-level guests, including MEPs, and questions from the audience.
