Hanoi, 10 December 2020: The Forum was co-organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam BCSD as well as relevant ministries and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, in addition to the UN and the UN Development Program (UNDP).

Attendees included Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Chairman of the National Council on Sustainable Development and Competitiveness Enhancement, the UN Resident Coordinator, leaders of ministries, and over 300 representatives from local, international organizations in Vietnam, business community and mass media in Vietnam.

Peter Bakker. President and CEO of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), connected via video for a keynote speech. He encouraged business leaders, government officials and key stakeholders “to collaborate and lead the way to help address the crisis and shape the future for a more sustainable and shock-proof Vietnam. We are in this COVID-19 crisis together. Let's make sure we continue to work together, align with national and local procedures, learn from each other and apply what we learn. Let's make sure we keep doing what business does best: respond fast.”

Since its establishment in 2010, Vietnam BCSD has been working tirelessly in joint efforts with its members and partners to raise awareness about sustainable development among the business community through communication and training activities, to improve the sustainable corporate governance of local enterprises through the Corporate Sustainability Index developed by the VBCSD and local leading experts, and to promote dialogue between the government and businesses through meaningful platforms such as the Corporate Sustainability Forum. 

Vietnam BCSD is a partner of WBCSD’s Global Network, an alliance of more than 60 CEO-led business organizations worldwide. The Network, encompassing some 5,000 companies, is united by a shared commitment to provide business leadership for sustainable development in their respective countries and regions.
