Through AMMA’s Bright Future STEM program, students across the country continue to be inspired about the resources and energy industry’s diverse range of career pathways and future jobs.
In recent weeks the Bright Future STEM program has visited students across Queensland.
Last week’s visit at Gladstone West State School saw two sessions held with students learning about the industry and its array of career opportunities.
Students learned through AMMA’s core STEM activities – Meet Edison, Turing Tumbles, Snap Circuits and Virtual Reality headsets, which give a 360 degree view of an underground tunnel and above ground mine sites.
AMMA thanks member company ConocoPhillips for providing role models from its team to promote the future jobs within the resources sector.
The sessions in Gladstone followed a successful visit to Goodna State School in the week prior, with more than 200 students undertaking the program.
AMMA thanks member company Anglo American for showcasing its remote control mine site activity at this session, and role models from New Hope Group and Sodexo.
This AMMA initiative specifically engages 9 to 12-year-old children, encouraging an interest in STEM subjects and technology, and giving an insight into future STEM employment in the sector.
Launched in 2019 to overwhelming industry response, AMMA’s national, school-based Bright Future STEM program is building momentum and reaching more students in more parts of Australia.
AMMA thanks its members who have participated with Bright Future STEM to date, and encourages other members to learn how they can get involved.
If you’re company is interested in participating in the program, or would like sessions conducted in your operating region/s, AMMA would love to hear from you.
