英文摘要 | Mobility and public transit play a key role in achieving the Global Sustainable Development Goals for sustainable cities and communities as well as contribute towards achieving emission reduction targets. It also provides access to essential services such as health, quality education – contributing to wellbeing and social cohesiveness. For many people, walking and cycling , key fundamental and wide spread forms of mobility, are a resource in ensuring mental and physical health. Not only are they both inexpensive and emission free, but also offer great health benefits. Experts say reducing petrol car dependency will not only strengthen the social fabric of communities but also create an environment in which it is easier to thrive. Each country is experiencing the effects of climate change. As we work to mitigate our global emissions and adapt to changing conditions, we must not forget the fundamental role that transport plays in our communities. Investing in low-carbon development to explore what is possible in our cities is a unique opportunity to re-examine how we move around. That is why the Share the Road Programme continues to act as an advocate for action, works with governments, citizens and city planners to help create a sustainable change in how we think about urban spaces and encourage investment that prioritizes walking and cycling. |
