英文摘要 | We are pleased to see that our review [1] has encouraged debate on sexually transmitted microbes (STMs). In their letter, Lombardo et al. [2] suggested that we were unaware of the ideas presented in their original paper on beneficial STMs (bSTMs), including the potential for bSTMS to promote the evolution of multiple mating [3]. We did, in fact, briefly discuss the idea that some STMs may be beneficial to females, but strict limitations on references forced us to favour a recent review [4] over the original 1999 study [3]. |
