With more than 3 million still in need of treatment and a high rate of new infections – close to a quarter of a million in 2018—primarily among adolescents and young adults, the HIV epidemic threatens the future social and economic stability of the country and demands a more focused, financed, and high-level response from the government of South Africa and its partners, including the U.S. government.
