Australia’s mining sector has acknowledged the contribution of the Member for Perth and Shadow Minister Assisting for Resources Tim Hammond MP to both Parliament and the mining industry.

Tim has been a valuable source of advice to the Minerals Council, including contributing to the MCA’s Policy Roundtable and interaction between our member companies and the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party.

As a West Australian, Tim already had a strong appreciation for the contribution mining makes both to his state and the nation before taking on the Shadow Resources portfolio. However, his diligence in working with the industry to understand and follow up significant policy and business matters has been of immense value.    

His decision to leave Parliament to spend more time with his young family is an acknowledgment of the pressure which long hours and frequent travel places on our elected representatives.

The MCA thanks Mr Hammond for the time and energy he devoted to building stronger relationships with the mining industry and wishes him and his family all the best for the future.
