An improvement notice was given to MRI PSO Pty Ltd (MRI PSO), a co-regulatory arrangement under the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme on 30 September 2019 after the Department of the Environment and Energy found that MRI PSO did not meet their recycling targets in 2016-17 and 2017-18, and it did not meet the reasonable access requirement in 2016-17.  

Section 23 of the Product Stewardship Act 2011 requires that the administrator of an approved co-regulatory arrangement take all reasonable steps to ensure the arrangement achieves its required outcomes. The Department found that MRI PSO did not take all reasonable steps to ensure the arrangement met its required outcomes in 2016–17 and 2017-18. The improvement notice advises MRI PSO that:

1. MRI PSO must take all reasonable steps to ensure that the arrangement meets its recycling targets in the 2019-20 financial year, including any shortfall carried forward from previous years.
2. MRI PSO must take all reasonable steps to meet the reasonable access requirements for the 2019-20 financial year.

The improvement notice is intended to provide MRI PSO the opportunity to demonstrate a sustained improvement in its performance.
