Pre-election guidance applies to all UK civil servants, Non-Departmental Public Bodies (NDPBs) and other arms’ length bodies including UK Research and Innovation, see official guidance: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/844380/General_Election_Guidance_2019.pdf Pre-election restrictions do not apply to independent institutes in receipt of UKRI funding such as universities, businesses and charities etc. Researchers employed directly by UKRI in our institutes, centres and laboratories are able to publish and communicate the findings of academic work during this period but should be mindful of political impartiality.
