The campaign “Tree retains water and water retains life” has been initiated with the aim to create a model region for green development through improved livelihoods based on forest conservation and support of environmentally sound green businesses in Onon River basin. In total 60 ha of new woodland were planted last two years.
Under the campaign “Tree retains water and water retains life”, WWF-Mongolia in cooperation with local partners has already started planting in 500 hectares (ha) in Onon River basin, which is scheduled to complete within four years. The campaign “Tree retains water and water retains life” has been initiated with the aim to create a model region for green development through improved livelihoods based on forest conservation and support of environmentally sound green businesses in Onon River basin. In total 60 ha of new woodland were planted last two years.
The local community is actively involved in this project. In particular, with a support of WWF-Mongolia, reforestation was completed in 6 ha of land in Norovlin soum and 2 ha in Bayan-Adraga soum of Khentii province. Community based organizations prepared the seedlings required for the forestation. In the meantime, WWF-Mongolia’s eastern branch has planted trees in 1 hectare area in May 2018, as a part of the campaign.            
 
In total 60 ha of new woodland were planted last two years.
