In the U.S., an enormous network of pipelines is aging underground. Municipal managers, contractors, engineers, and consultants face the difficult task of renewing, rehabilitating, and replacing these systems efficiently and cost-effectively.

The Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) supports these efforts with its newest publication, Trenchless Technology and Asset Management. This manual of practice, co-published with the National Association of Sewer Service Companies (Marriottsville, Md.), provides detailed, straightforward information about the assessment, management, and repair of pipeline infrastructure using trenchless technologies.

The publication guides readers tasked with assessing the condition of pipe systems to use conventional and unconventional inspection technologies, establish asset management plans, and execute repair and replacement efforts. The publication also covers critical bidding and safety considerations, management of sustainable pipe collection systems, condition grading methodologies, and the latest in technology and materials.

For more information, contact WEF staff member Karah DeMarco at 703-684-7211 or Kdemarco@wef.org. Purchase this publication and WEF’s other educational resources at www.wef.org/ShopWEF.
