09/04/2019 - The latest OECD Economic Survey of Japan, to be released on Monday 15 April, analyses the factors behind the country’s current economic expansion, which is the longest of the post-war era, as well as the challenges to ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth.

The principal theme of the Survey is population ageing, which poses many challenges and opportunities. The Survey discusses the need for fundamental labour market reform to make the most of Japan’s human resources in the context of a shrinking population. The Survey also examines how Japan can ensure fiscal sustainability in the face of population ageing, which is putting upward pressure on spending.

The Survey will be available to registered journalists on the OECD's password-protected website at 03:00 CET (1:00 GMT) on Monday 15 April for immediate release.

OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría will present the Survey during a press conference in Tokyo starting at 10:00 local time, at the Japan National Press Club (10^th Floor, Nippon Press Center Building, Tokyo).
