NERC is reforming the governance and funding arrangements of the British Geological Survey (BGS). These reforms will better enable BGS to diversify and attract more external funding to ensure it can continue as a globally leading survey, delivering services and providing infrastructure support nationally and globally.

BGS is seeking to appoint a number of non-executive directors to establish this Board, which will support the Board Chair and BGS Executive Team in shaping the organisation's strategy and business plans, and in securing its position as a world-leading geological survey, delivering services and providing infrastructure support nationally and globally.

If eligible, an honorarium of £6,000 will be paid. In addition, reasonable travel and subsistence will be payable.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is 12:00 on 26 January 2018.

Interviews will be held in London on 14-15 February 2018. Candidates short listed for interview will be invited to BGS Keyworth, Nottingham on one of the following dates: 8, 9, 12 or 13 February 2018. The inaugural Board meeting will be held on Tuesday 6 March 2018.
